Guy Lanrezac – Otodata
Managing Director Europe of the Canadian company Otodata,
Guy Lanrezac reviewed the many telemetry solutions deployed by his company to equip all types of tanks.
Three million! That is the number of telemetry monitors currently installed on tanks worldwide that the Canadian company Otodata claims to have deployed—mainly in North America, in Canada and the United States. The company, now the global leader in the sector, has recently expanded into Europe, France, and now into the network of partners of the FF3C trade association, with the ambition of sharing its expertise with the industry: mastery of a range of solutions that are easy to install, durable, and reliable, enabling all types of tanks containing all kinds of liquids to be equipped.
The devices deployed by Otodata communicate via two cellular networks dedicated to the Internet of Things (CAT M1 and NB-IoT), feature two SIM cards to secure transmissions, and are designed to withstand water, shocks, and aging. The announced battery life reaches fifteen years, with a minimum five-year hardware warranty. The monitors are quickly mounted using reinforced magnets, include GPS, and can be paired with Bluetooth gauges for local readings. The goal is to simplify field installation as much as possible, without construction work or specific technical skills.
Solutions Adapted to All Types of Tanks
The strength of the solution lies in price competitiveness and the diversity of compatible sensors. Otodata offers pressure probes for tall tanks, floats for lower-height tanks, as well as radar sensors adapted for AdBlue and IBC tanks. This variety makes it possible to equip a heterogeneous fleet without multiplying suppliers or technologies, and provides an answer to complex cases encountered in the field.
All data is consolidated into the NEE-VO web platform, which allows users to monitor tanks, generate alerts, and optimize delivery routes. The tool can be customized, integrated with the distributor’s ERP system, and benefits from local technical support. At the same time, a free, customizable mobile application allows end customers to view their tank level, usage history, request a refill, or make payments, while also giving distributors a targeted communication channel.
Purchase, Rental, or Turnkey Service
Otodata offers several business models: equipment purchase with a data subscription, long-term rental including warranty, or a complete solution integrating installation and maintenance. This last option, which is in high demand, allows deployment with no upfront investment and facilitates rapid rollouts. Beyond the logistical benefits, telemetry also offers a commercial advantage by improving service quality, securing recurring sales, and strengthening customer loyalty.
